How The Night Hawgs Came Into Existence

For many years, bikers have been meeting every Thursday night at Air Devils Inn in Louisville, Kentucky. Riders usually hang around ADI for an hour or so then ride to other taverns in the area. This has been a great way to get to know other area riders.

Around 1996, about five or so of us met and began riding together during the rest of the week. Several of us rode to the Sturgis Rally in South Dakota several years in a row. We attended other motorcycle rallys including Bike Week in Florida and the Chillicothe, Ohio Easyriders Rodeo. We had a great time and developed a strong sense of camaraderie.

In the fall of 1999, we decided to give ourselves a name. We held a meeting at Whiskey Bob’s Motorsports Saloon in Louisville and chose the name “Night Hawgs” which came from an old Steppenwolf song.

In January of 2000, we decided to organize and adopted a set of bylaws. We chose to become a “Social Club” as opposed to a “Motorcycle Club” and chose a patch design to be worn on the front of our vests. We now have a much larger version of the original patch which may be worn on the back of our vests by members.

While we are not a “Motorcycle Club”, we tend to be more hardcore than the average “Social Club”. We do require that potential members complete a probationary period before being considered for full membership. We are proud of the fact that we are on good terms with the local “Motorcycle Clubs” and many of our members wear support patches to demonstrate friendship.

The Night Hawgs sponsor many events throughout the year including poker runs, a Derby party and a Biker Ball held in October. We sponsored a Red Cross benefit run, in response to the terrible Pentagon and World Trade Center disasters, which was a huge success. We also support various poker runs and events held by other organizations in this area.

The Night Hawgs are about brotherhood and family. We support each other and take care of our own. We have worked hard to get to where we are today and take pride in our organization. We welcome interest in our organization. If you think you are interested in becoming a part of our family, talk to us and get to know us when you see us in public.
